Golden Gate

Built in Waiblingen on a hillside property that is limited in size by the trailing edge of a former quarry, different facades have been developed for this single family home. While the road side is very close and only two floors are visible, all three stories are open to the back garden. The roof is designed as a saddle roof and is in line with the surrounding buildings. Oblique incisions in the gable windows lead to a visual distortion of the classical type. Highly structured plastic is used to create forward and backward jumps on the front of the building which defines the buildings entrance. A gold coloured façade, made from plate material, holds together the garage doors and gates. From the garden, the plastic design helps covered areas such as terraces and balconies come into existence. In the living room there are exciting space situations created by the air space leading to the upper floor as well as by special materials used. There is a spy glass aimed towards the garage, giving the owner the choice as to whether to make the Oldtimer visible by switching on the light or to let the car disappear by switching it of. The warm coloured parquet floor and the white painted furniture create, for this scene, a quiet background. All furniture and kitchen fittings are manufactured according to designs by the architectural office and paint a consistent overall picture on all floors.
