Pipera Neighbourhood
Bucharest, Romania

- SYAA
The site is a former industrial area, now a booming real estate neighbourhood.
In order to enrol in the industrial context we opted for a compound comprising pavilion type buildings. The transition to a residential architecture is made by the use of the archetypal figure of the "house" for each building. The oversized silhouettes of these huge houses create a playful atmosphere within the compound, giving charm and taming the urban scale of the assembly.
The offset placing of the buildings from one another creates a fluid public space, in which the natural light and vegetation penetrate fully.
The ground floor houses commercial activities while the underground is a parking area.
The compound will be developed on stages and comprises 10 buildings, each having between 50 and 80 units, summing up to 600 apartments.
