A single family dwelling on a 6000 sft plot in prime residential area of Juhu. Many bungalows in the area get torn down to build highrises. Our client still desired to build a bungalow. The design evolved to make an introvert looking three storey dwelling with a designed terrace space for entertainment. The house is zoned such that the formal and guest areas are on the first floor, the main family room and important zones like Kitchen and Dining are on the second floor. The first two floors are connected by a double height courtyard space. The third floor accommodates the private personal spaces - Master Bedroom and two Children rooms. These come together in a double height courtyard that encompasses the terrace spaces within it. The house is about light and ventilation with ample skylights to take in light and large opening on the south and west sides for the predominant winds. The front facade has wooden screens, cantilevered balconies, stainless steel weather protection boxes. The house uses a white cement based marble aggregate plaster that is cast with the help of special craftsmen from Gujarat.
